San Cristóbal El Alto is the hilltop village above San Cristóbal El Bajo, with some of the best views in the valley and a cooler climate than the floor. It has become known for community tourism, honey, traditional sweets and a small scene of restaurants and lodges built for the view. A regular car will get you there for most of the village; only the back part of the area may call for a 4×4. Buyers come for view lots and privacy rather than walkability, and a property on the edge with the valley in front of it is something special.
Parador Santa Clara, the newer mall on the road out this way, has a grocery store, restaurants and banking, so residents on this side of town have their day to day conveniences without driving through Antigua.
