The Retreat is totally off-the-grid with solar providing electricity for the whole complex and to pump water from the Lake. Accessible ONLY BY BOAT, although there is a pathway up to the village of San Pablo la Laguna and road connecting it to both San Marcos la Laguna and San Juan la Laguna. Sitting on the North shore every inch of the property offers up stunning views out across the Lake to the volcanoes on the South side
The property consists of 3,283 m² / ft2 of terraced, organically planted land with tropical plants, lawns, and fruit trees and plants all following permaculture principals, which is aided by the gentle slope of the land down to the Lake shore. There are various fruit trees and a Herb Garden, with the herbs all labelled. Each accommodation has been carefully designed to give its occupants a private space.
The public areas are the restaurant space and the large, circular meditation/yoga hall next door, office/reception/library, sauna, hot tub, and therapy room. There are several bodegas/storerooms and a chicken coop.
Everything is solidly constructed with a mixture of stone, adobe, bamboo, iron and block and offers everything from a dorm room to private rooms, all with shared bathrooms. The warm, cosy, peaceful atmosphere is all enhance by the attention to decorative details and furnishing.
Over 10 years the Retreat has created its very own niche and was one of the first ever to offer Dark Retreats for which is it now world-known for.
